Artrageous Parade

Posted

From whimsical floats to lively performers, the annual Artrageous parade on Saturday, May 2, delivered an afternoon where fun was had by all, drawing residents and visitors alike to line the streets and revel in the playful spirit that defines Eureka Springs.

As laughter echoed down Spring Street and art took center stage, the Artrageous Parade — hosted by the Eureka Springs School of the Arts — proudly kicked off the town’s month-long May Festival of the Arts, setting the tone for weeks of creativity and cultural celebration.

Parade entries were judged on creativity, originality, and overall spirit, with winners receiving both cash prizes and ESSA gift certificates to further fuel their artistic pursuits. This year’s winners are:

• First Place: Rocksberry the Gnome created by artist Stephen R Feilbach

• Second Place: “Women of the World are Gathering”

• Third Place: The Eureka Springs Theatre Company’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Prize awards included $300 cash and a $200 ESSA gift certificate for first place; $200 cash and a $100 ESSA gift certificate for second place; and $100 cash and a $50 ESSA gift certificate for third place.

While a few standout entries took home top honors, the true magic of the Artrageous Parade lived in the collective creativity of every participant. Each float, costume and performance added to a one-of-a-kind celebration that continues to embody the vibrant, welcoming, and delightfully unconventional spirit of Eureka Springs.

The Artrageous Parade remains a cherished tradition and a joyful reminder of the power of art to bring people together. ESSA is proud to host this annual event and to continue fostering creativity within the community and beyond.

This year’s parade was made possible in part by the generous support of Downtown Eureka Springs business sponsors, including Kaleidokites, Chelsea’s, Mud St Café, Sailor’s Luck Tattoo, Granny’s Place and Apothecarrie, Oracle & Sage, Eureka Clothing Company, and Soap Stop and Body Shop. Additional thanks go to Carroll County Broadcasting, the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission and the Eureka Springs Arts Council for their continued partnership and support.
