Ballot issue addresses now-expired Pine Mountain entertainment district

A measure on the Nov. 3 general election ballot regarding an entertainment district in Eureka Springs will not result in any action, since that specific district is no longer in effect.

The final question on the ballot under “local measures” is an issue regarding a “permanent entertainment district” at Pine Mountain Village.

After that district was approved by the Eureka Springs City Council in September 2024, a group of residents circulated a petition and gathered enough signatures to have the issue put before voters.

Because the city council did not vote to hold a special election on the issue, the vote was scheduled for the November 2026 general election.

The ordinance approved by the council established the “permanent entertainment district” for only two years, however — a term that expired on Sept. 23, according to city clerk treasurer Kim Stryker.

Stryker said the owners of Pine Mountain Village successfully applied for a temporary entertainment district for the recent Bikes, Blues and BBQ rally. The temporary district was in effect from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. See BALLOT Page 6

The ballot question concerns only Pine Mountain Village, not the separate downtown entertainment district that operated under a three-month trial ending Sept. 30.

A “For” vote on the ballot measure would be in favor of repealing the now-expired ordinance that established the Pine Mountain entertainment district, while an “Against” vote would be against repealing the ordinance.
