A new website and weekly email newsletter aimed at providing a one-stop calendar for events in the Eureka Springs area is scheduled to launch Sept. 6.
EurekaHoller.com will offer a free Sunday-through-Sunday calendar focusing initially on live music, performances and art, according to a news release announcing the project.
Each listing will include basic information such as the event or performer, venue, date and time and any cover charge, along with a link to the event’s original online advertising or information.
“There are a slew of wonderful happenings in Eureka Springs every day,” said Pearl Brick, who is involved in the project. “The problem is that the information is all over the place. You may hear about a friend’s gig on one of a dozen Facebook pages after it happened, see a poster too late, or hear from a friend about it a week later.”
Brick said EurekaHoller is intended to reinforce and expand the reach of existing event advertising rather than replace it.
Musicians, venues, artists, community leaders and event organizers may submit information for the weekly calendar. Venues and organizers with multiple events may submit a schedule rather than completing a separate online form for each event.
The deadline for submissions will be noon each Friday, with the calendar posted online each Sunday morning. People may also subscribe to receive the full calendar by email at no charge.
Organizers said the website and newsletter are being designed to be easy to scan on a phone, tablet or computer. Instead of reproducing lengthy event descriptions or promotional material, listings will direct readers to performers, venues, ticket pages, Facebook events, Instagram posts or other original sources for additional information.
The website eventually could expand to include reviews, community news, comments and classified advertising, according to the release.
The first edition is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, with a submission deadline of noon Friday, Sept. 4.
EurekaHoller is a project of transformation design, Berkeley B Stewart and friends. Event information may be submitted at eurekaholler.com.
