Steven Doyle Newcomb, 65, went home to Heaven June 11, 2022. He is survived by his beloved children Shannon Joy Newcomb and Matthew Steven Newcomb, both of Eureka Springs; his mother, Loella Hostutler Blanas; his sister, Darlene Mills; her three children and grandchildren of Corpus Christi, Tex.; his step-brother, Bryant Bynum of Tulsa, Okla. He will be missed by his large extended family of cousins, inlaws and step family and very much by Pamela Dawn Barron, his partner over the past six years, and her grandchildren who knew him as “Pop Pop”.
Steve was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Everett Doyle and Judy Newcomb; and his sister, Elaine Hunt.
Steve was born Sept. 17, 1956, and raised in Corpus Christi, Tex. He was always on or near the ocean. His interest in the sea led him to become a scuba diver. He worked in the industry as an off shore diver in the Gulf of Mexico and a scuba instructor aboard a live-aboard dive boat in the Caribbean which he later became the captain of.
He spent many years in the islands then Steve built a home beginning in 1993 and raised his children along with their mother, Diane in the woods near Eureka Springs, Ark. He was always known for easily making friends, telling stories, and being a great Dad. He was a big lovable guy who gave great hugs, had a terrific sense of humor and enjoyed social gatherings and swimming at Beaver Lake.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Aug. 2 at Cup of Love Ministry, 4032 E. Van Buren, Eureka Springs, AR 72632.
Memorial donations may be made to Cup of Love Ministry where Steve had been involved and made many friends.
