Thanks to 21 local participants who brought home a total of 51 gold, 33 silver and 11 bronze medals, the Carroll County Senior Activity & Wellness Center in Berryville placed first in the 36th Annual Northwest Arkansas Senior Games sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas. On hand for the $500 prize check presentation to the senior center on Thursday, May 25, were (from left) Jamie Correia, Floyd Bills, Angie Dunlap (director of senior services for the Area Agency on Aging), Christina Butler (director of the Carroll County Senior Activity & Wellness Center), Mary Warren, Ron Bills and Pamela Curtis. Participants not pictured are Nancy Armer, Steve Armer, Dave Brady, Patricia Brady, Patti Cannon, Rick Correia, Carrie Hill, Ed Jakubec, David Parsley, Thomas Parsley, Janet Serbus, Cheryl Staats, James Sugg, Lucinda Thomovsky, Leonda Wilson and Anne Woodshank. The games were held April 7-28 at venues across Northwest Arkansas and were open to anyone over the age of 50. Jamie Correia was the overall High Point Female winner, earning gold medals in bowling (singles, doubles, mixed doubles), baggo, stationary cycling, spincasting, nail pounding, shot put, javelin, Daisy air gun, basketball, softball throw, football throw, 200-meter walk and discus.
