JPs approve tax rebates for Messer

The Carroll County Quorum Court approved a resolution at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 17, to allow Messer LLC to participate in the Tax Back program, part of an investment incentive package offered by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to help attract new businesses to the state.

Messer, headquartered in Bad Soden, Germany, recently broke ground on a $70 million, state-of-the-art air separation unit in the Berryville business park.

Under the Tax Back program. qualified businesses can receive sales and use tax refunds on the purchase of building materials and taxable machinery and equipment. The program is one of several incentives offered by the AEDC.

In order to participate in the program, businesses must obtain a resolution from a local governing authority authorizing the refund of its local sales and use taxes. during the construction period.
