A Missouri man drowned Sunday, July 20, in Beaver Lake near the town of Beaver, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
Marvin Stevens, 34, of Seligman, Mo., tried to swim out to the old train bridge but did not make it back to shore, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.
Carroll County dispatch received a call of a possible drowning at 5:31 p.m., the post said. The Mennonite Search and Rescue team, Benton County Dive Team, Office of Emergency Management and Holiday Island Fire Department were dispatched to the scene along with the sheriff’s office. The Mennonite team deployed their underwater sonar and were able to locate Stevens a short time later, the post said.
