December trial date set for Harrell

Hunter Harrell, the Eureka Springs man charged with first-degree murder in a fatal shooting earlier this month in Fort Smith, is scheduled to go to trial in December.

Harrell, 25, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and to first-degree unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, according to Sebastian County Circuit Court documents. He is scheduled for a jury trial the week of Dec. 1.

Harrell is charged in the shooting death of Jerry Beane, 39, in the early morning hours of Friday, July 18.

Fort Smith police issued an alert asking law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Harrell, and he was arrested later that day by Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies after Deputy Micah Gash located the suspect vehicle while searching a location on Stoppel Road in Eureka Springs.

Harrell is being held in the Sebastian County jail on a $500,000 bond.
