Linda “Lin” Louise Mitchell Crider, 76, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Lin was born on October 13, 1948, in Eunice, Louisiana, and carried with her a deep and proud Cajun French Catholic heritage. Her faith was central to her life, with the Holy Eucharist being especially dear to her heart. She was raised in Elton, Louisiana, by her devoted mother, Ella Buller Mitchell, alongside her sister and brother. Even from a young age, Lin stood out, she was active in 4-H, known for her poise and beauty, and crowned a local beauty queen.
In 1971, a chance moment while washing her car led Lin to meet her soulmate, Mack Crider. Their connection was instant, and just three months later, they were married, a love story that lasted more than 50 years.
Lin was known for her Cajun cooking, gentle spirit, her joyful laugh, and her unwavering love for her family. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved most, and in her final days, she was held close by her family, just as she had always held them. She is survived by her beloved soulmate, Mack Crider; her children: Missy Crider, Chris Crider and his fiancée Hilary Parks, and Paul Crider; her adored grandchildren: Levi Crider, Ana Jane Crider, and Madelyn Crider; her sister, Sharon Fontenot; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Ella and Harry, and her brother, Larry Mitchell.
Lin’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and grace. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Lin had requested a private family Mass instead of a funeral. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 30 Cresent Dr., Eureka Springs, AR 72632. Arrangements under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to nelsonfuneral.com.
