Ballinger announces bid for state Senate seat

Bobby Ballinger of St. Paul announced Wednesday, Sept. 10, that he is a Republican candidate for the District 28 seat in the Arkansas State Senate.

A news release announcing Ballinger’s candidacy described him as “a lifelong Conservative Republican with deep roots in rural Arkansas.”

District 28 includes all of Carroll County along with all or part of Boone, Franklin, Johnson, Madison and Newton counties.

Ballinger was raised in Carroll and Madison counties, the news release says, “and has spent his life working with his hands and serving his community. He is a small business owner, volunteer firefighter, farmer, and man of faith committed to protecting Arkansas’ conservative values from radical agendas.”

“I’m a Conservative Republican because I believe in hard work, personal responsibility, and standing up for what’s right, even when it’s not easy,” Ballinger was quoted as saying in the news release. “I’m not running to play politics. I’m running to do the job and fight for the people who live here.”

According to the news release, Ballinger worked on the staff of U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman of Arkansas, “an experience that helped shape his policy outlook.”

“If elected, he will support Governor Sanders’ conservative agenda, push for lower taxes, grow the economy, fight for the unborn, protect the Second Amendment, and oppose biological males in women’s sports and transgender surgeries for minors,” the news release said. “He will also make sure that rural Arkansas has a seat at the table in Little Rock.” “I understand the challenges facing our state and am ready to get to work to tackle them,” Ballinger said in the news release. “By channeling conservative values to grow the economy and protect our traditional way of life, we can set Arkansas on course for a very bright future.”

Ballinger lives in St. Paul with his wife, Meagan, and their four children, the news release says. They attend Boston Mountain Baptist Church, where Bobby Ballinger is a deacon and Meagan Ballinger is the pianist, according to the news release.

The District 28 seat is currently held by Bryan King of Green Forest, who defeated Ballinger’s father, Bob, in a runoff to win the Republican nomination in 2022 and then defeated Democrat Jim Wallace of Eureka Springs in the November 2022 general election.
