The Carroll County Community Band will kick off the 2025 concert season at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22. The group will rehearse each Monday in the Berryville High School band room.
The band will be under the baton of maestro Doug Blevins this season, after the retirement of longtime conductor Jim Swiggart. “Our band consists of adults who enjoy rehearsing and performing music alongside aspiring students from school bands in our area”, Blevins said.
The Carroll County Band is unique in that it offers students an opportunity to play outside of their school band program. Student participation is at the recommendation their band director at school.
The mission of the band is to provide opportunities for citizens of Carroll County and surrounding areas to engage in musical performances aimed at advancing the skill level of all participants. The band continually accepts donations and sponsorships to aid student musicians to attend summer music camps and other musical enrichments outside of the school music program, which will assist them in sharing their musical talent with others.
If there are any adults in the community who would like to dust off their instrument, make some new friends and enjoy making music, they may contact Blevins at dblevins@bobcat.k12. ar.us. There may be some local business or individuals who would like to sponsor the band or make a tax-deductible donation. Donations and sponsorships may be mailed to Carroll County Community Band, 902 W. Trimble Ave., Berryville, AR 72616.
The fall concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in the Performing Arts Center on the Berryville High School campus.
