Eureka Springs ranks among top Valentine’s Day destinations

Eureka Springs has been named the top destination in Arkansas and No. 75 in the country for a Valentine’s Day getaway.

That’s according to the travel website Exoticca, which recently surveyed 3,012 couples.

“In Arkansas, three locations featured as the most sought-after cozy getaways for Valentine’s Day across America,” the website wrote in a release about the survey.

“Steep, winding streets and softly glowing historic buildings give Eureka Springs a particularly cozy presence in winter, well suited to a Valentine’s retreat,” Exoticca wrote in the release about the survey on its website. “The town quiets noticeably after dark, encouraging evenings spent close to where you’re staying. Many visitors choose old inns or tucked-away cabins, where fireplaces and creaking floorboards heighten the sense of retreat.

“A low-lit dinner at Grotto Wood-Fired Grill & Wine Cave fits naturally into the evening before the cold pulls couples back inside early.”

Other Arkansas cities on the list include Mountain View at No, 88 nationally and Jasper coming in at No. 105.

“Valentine’s Day seems to bring out a universal desire for small moments of connection,” said Juanjo Duran, CMO of Exoticca. “These destinations aren’t about big itineraries — they are about atmosphere, warmth, and finding a place where time moves differently.”

The release said those polled felt that Valentine’s Day was “one of the few moments in the year when couples actively seek out somewhere that feels a little more special than their everyday routine.”

“A place built for slow mornings, warm evenings, and the kind of unhurried time together that’s hard to find at home,” according to the release. “To understand where Americans most want to escape with a partner this Valentine’s Day, Exoticca surveyed 3,012 couples and identified the country’s most sought-after cozy and atmosphere-rich destinations for a romantic seasonal getaway.”

Exoticca’s top 10 destinations nationally for Valentine’s Day, according to the survey, were Lake Placid, N.Y., Aurora, N.Y., Ouray, Colo., Gatlinburg, Tenn., Taos, N.M., Apalachicola, Fla., Fernandina Beach, Fla., Bristol, R.I., Mount Dora, Fla. and Homer, Alaska.
