Connect 4 board accepts $10K grant, appoints committee to oversee funds

The Connect 4 Advisory Board received a $10,000 donation from the Carroll County Community Foundation during the advisory board’s meeting on Jan. 23.

Joe Scott, Janell Robertson and Mavis Lehr presented the check on behalf of the foundation.

Board members voted unanimously to create a committee to oversee how the funds will be spent.

During program updates, Jennifer Winkle and James Knight reported current enrollment totals of 11 students from Eureka Springs, 27 from Green Forest and 53 from Berryville.

Knight said 20 seniors completed forklift training in December, with 29 additional students scheduled for training in April In addition, 47 first-year students successfully completed OSHA-10 training.

Connect 4’s annual Signing Day is scheduled for April 28.

Knight also reviewed internship placements throughout the county and outlined several upcoming events, including the Build My Future event in Rogers, a “Next Step Workshop” for seniors hosted by Regions Bank, and a resume and mock interview workshop led by Carroll Electric Two students have earned AWS welding certifications, with seven more expected to complete certification before the end of the semester Students are currently working on a variety of hands-on projects, including rebuilding a dump bed trailer, constructing a three-phase motor and alignment wall, performing forklift maintenance, and completing electronics and pneumatics team projects.

Knight also discussed a proposal sent to U.S. Rep. Steve Womack regarding the Connect 4 Workforce Center and provided an update on high school led completed projects at the center.
