Master Gardeners program to feature local beekeeper

The Carroll County Master Gardeners began a spring series of engaging programs on various gardening topics earlier this year. The third program in the series will discuss Planting for Pollinators by certified master beekeeper John Swan of Eureka Springs. Participants will learn about the numerous benefits of planting to support the many pollinators that are now out in full force, while learning more about the many benefits of bees and their vital role in nature. The program will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Carroll Electric Community Room. The cost is $5 at the door, and reservations are not required.

Swan currently works with the Eureka Springs High School agriculture class and Clear Spring School, helping to facilitate their beekeeping programs. He is also the owner of Wicked Bee, where he has managed over 200 honeybee colonies throughout the years. Swan also owns Wicked Bee Removal Service, which was created to help save honeybees from unnecessary eradication by providing live bee removal and relocation services when bees set up a colony in an undesirable location.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this educational program promises to offer valuable knowledge and inspiration for all gardening enthusiasts, with information relevant to our region of the state.

Don’t miss these opportunities to deepen your gardening knowledge and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Light snacks will be provided.
