A Eureka Springs woman was killed in a traffic accident Saturday, Sept. 27, involving a motorcycle driven by a local man.
According to a summary written by Arkansas State Police Cpl. Mike Morgan, Jason Koeffler, 49, of Eureka Springs was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson northbound on Arkansas Highway 23 near its intersection with Madison County Road 1000 in the Clifty area at 3:05 p.m. when the motorcycle went into a ditch to avoid a slow-moving vehicle and then went back onto the roadway and landed on its side.
Amanda Stonebraker, 35, a passenger on the motorcycle, was killed. The report says Stonebraker was a resident of Goff, Kan., but sources confirmed that Stonebraker lived and worked in Eureka Springs.
The report indicated that Koeffler was injured in the accident.
The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident, according to the report.
Stonebraker was the 381st person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas this year.
