Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel responding Sunday, Oct. 5, to a location on County Road 219 found a male in his 30s unconscious and not breathing in a vehicle on the side of the road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday, Oct. 6. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, the individual was pronounced dead on scene by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.
“The Criminal Investigations Division of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Carroll County Coroner’s Office, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death; however, there is no evidence of foul play, and there is no danger to the community,” the CCSO news release said. “The body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy in accordance with Arkansas State Law regarding suspected overdoses.
“Sheriff Daniel Klatt wants to thank all agencies that responded to assist the Sheriff’s Office and remind those suffering from mental health or addiction issues that the telephone number 988 can be used to assist individuals in seeking help,” the news release said.
Other agencies that responded to the scene, according to the news release, were Mennonite Emergency Response, Berryville Fire Department and Southern Paramedic Service.
