Mad Hatter Ball takes guests on galactic adventure

The Eureka Springs School of the Arts (ESSA) launched into orbit for its 23rd annual Fall Fundraiser, the Mad Hatter Ball, themed “2025: A Space Oddity!” Held Friday, Oct. 17, at the Historic 1886 Crescent Hotel, the event saw more than 160 guests trade earthbound attire for cosmic costumes: astronauts, aliens, cosmic explorers and interstellar oddities danced, mingled and made memories in a night that was truly out of this world.

The Mad Hatter Ball is more than just a fantastical party; it’s ESSA’s signature fundraiser, supporting free public programs in art and craft, sustaining the Artist- in-Residence program and keeping teaching studios thriving. This year’s event exceeded expectations, with guests’ generosity helping ensure ESSA can continue inspiring budding and established artists in our community and beyond.

No space voyage would be complete without a contest, and the evening’s hat and costume competition delivered stellar creativity. Awards included Best Individual Hat, Best Group Hat, Best Themed Hat, and the crowd-favorite People’s Choice Award, with winners receiving spectacular gift baskets from ESSA and its sponsors.
