Eureka Springs Mayor Butch Berry has shown improvement since being hospitalized last week for an undisclosed illness.

That’s what members of the city council were told Monday, Feb. 9, by mayor pro tem Steve Holifield, who led the council’s regular meeting in Berry’s absence.

“Butch has been out with an illness,” Holifield said. “An update that we got says he’s been moved to a private room, a regular room, so hopefully he’s on the mend.

“Please send all your positive thoughts and prayers toward him and his family. We keep them in our heart, and get well soon, Butch.”

Longtime council member Terry McClung mentioned Berry during his comments at the end of Monday’s meeting.

“I just want to wish our mayor the best,” McClung said. “Get well and get back here.”
