Arvest Bank has announced the addition of David Teigen to its local board of directors in Eureka Springs. Teigen is the owner of Teigen Insurance and Teigen Properties and has worked in the insurance industry since 1976.

Daughters of the American Revolution participated with Holiday Island Elks Lodge 1042 for the 245th Anniversary of the American flag on June 11. Dam discussions filled up most of the quick Eureka Springs City Council regular meeting June 27. Coming up with ways to help pay for repairs and improvements to the dam at Black Bass Lake consumed much of the 38-minute meeting at The Auditorium, the majority of time being spent debating whether the City Advertising and Promotion Commission can legally contribute funds to the project.

Another COVID-related death was reported in Carroll County last week, bringing the number of those who have died from complications related to the novel coronavirus to 106. The additional death was accompanied by another jump in the number of active cases, with 77 reported Friday, June 24, by the Arkansas Department of Health, which reported 59 active cases on June 17.

Former state Sen. Bryan King of Green Forest will be the Republican nominee for the District 28 seat in the Arkansas Senate in the November general election.

David Writer will be the Republican nominee for Carroll County Judge in the November general election. Writer defeated Bud Phillips in the June 21 preferential primary runoff to win the Republican nomination, according to unofficial final results announced by the Carroll County Clerk’s office.

The Eureka Springs Hospital Commission might be ambulance shopping in the near future. At its June 20 regular meeting, the commission heard from Eureka Springs Hospital CEO Angie Shaw about issues with area transport services that are causing major delays in getting patients moved to larger facilities.

Eureka Springs Hospital Clinic is temporarily closing effective Thursday, June 30. The urgent care clinic opened on March 1, 2022, with the intent to offer primary care as well.

A group of citizens will get the opportunity to provide input on a master plan for city parks in Eureka Springs. At its June 21 regular meeting, the Eureka Springs Parks Commission spent a majority of time talking about a planning committee that will be formed to discuss ideas for city parks.
