Eureka Springs junior Addie Blackwelder won a pair of events in the 2A-1 conference track and field championships on Wednesday, April 29, in Eureka Springs.
Blackwelder won the high jump after clearing 4-2 and took first place in the pole vault at 6-0. She added a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 24-9 and placed fifth in the long jump at 12-1.5.
Lidia Kania earned a runner-up finish in the girls pole vault by clearing 5-6.
On the track, Anna Vaverka placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 3:08.59, fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:40.26 and fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 16:17.23.
Jeorgia Johnson added a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:25.13.
The Lady Highlanders’ 4x400-meter relay team posted a runner-up finish in 5:30.35.
For the Highlanders’ boys team, Dakota Linder won the pole vault, clearing 9-7.
Kingston Howard gave Eureka Springs a one-two finish in the event by placing second at 8-0.
Distance runner Yohannes Piepho turned in three top-four finishes, taking second in the 1,600-meter run in 5:09.35, fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:31.73 and fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:26.93.
Malakai Pederson added a pair of top-four finishes, placing third in the 800-meter run in 2:16.75 and fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:25.75.
The Highlanders’ 4x800-meter relay team also earned a runner-up finish with a time of 9:41.48.
