Eureka Springs High School will have a new face with a successful background leading the Highlanders boys basketball team next season.

At its regular meeting held Monday, March 9, the school board approved the resignation of longtime boys basketball coach Brian Rambo.

Rambo will transition to the district’s athletic director and an Alternative Learning Environment teacher, superintendent Bryan Pruitt said.  He coached the boys basketball team for the past 14 years after two seasons coaching the girls team.

“This will really give him a chance to be more of a full-time athletic director, where he can concentrate on all of our athletic programs, Pruitt said.

It didn’t take long to find Rambo’s replacement.

Tyler Scott, who won a state championship as head coach at England in 2015, and also had a state runner-up finish, was approved as Rambo’s successor, Pruitt said.

“Tyler and his wife, they’ve been here in the area,” Pruitt said, adding that Tara Scott has been an teacher in the district the past two years.

“Tyler was a superintendent at England, Arkansas, and a previous boys basketball coach,” Pruitt said. “He won a state championship, and was state runners-up. … Then he was a principal and superintendent.”

Tyler Scott was superintendent at England, located southeast of Little Rock, from 2020-2022 before his family moved to Carroll County to be near family, Pruitt said.

“He was selling insurance for like New York Life, and then this last year he started driving a bus for us,” Pruitt said.

Tyler Scott was one of 20-plus applicants for the coaching position when Rambo decided to make a change, Pruitt said.

“We’re excited about having coach Scott here,” Pruitt said.
