The heat of summer is upon us. We may have eight or 10 more weeks of heat coming. Is global warming causing you to sweat or is it just the dog days of summer? Global warming is about the Earth adjusting herself and we can’t do very much about the higher temperatures and humidity, though doing what we can individually is a good thing. We all need to do the little things that we can on the big level to help all of us survive the adjustment. However, we can attend to our physical needs when we sweat too much.

This week our Pet of the Week is Mishka, an adult grey tabby. She is a very sweet and loving kitty. Mishka also has a really cute chirp she gives out when she is getting petted by someone she loves. Mishka will make a great addition to any family. You can meet Mishka at the Good Shepherd Humane Society Adoption Center on Highway 62. The center is open daily from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Submitted photo

The Carroll County Junior Fair Board will host a truck pull fundraiser scheduled for 7 p.m., Saturday, June 18 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds in Berryville. Admission to the event wil be $10 per person and free for children 10 and under.
