To the Editor:
We all see our grocery bills are going up, and many local families are struggling. At Flint Street, we see more and more of our neighbors walk through our doors each week needing help. Just since the first of 2026, we’ve provided food assistance to 469 households totaling over 900 family members in Eureka Springs and Carroll County.
The Scouts of Troop 67 are once again conducting their annual Scouting for Food Drive. This food drive is so important to us at Flint Street as it usually gathers enough non-perishable items to keep our shelves stocked through the winter. We are expecting our needs to grow in the coming months, and we need your donations more than ever this year.
You should receive bags on your porch the first weekend of November (around Nov. 7). Please contribute what you can and place your bags out for the Scouts to pick up on Nov. 15. If you are missed, we can always accept donations during our business hours at the pantry, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. In addition, there are donation boxes for Flint Street at local grocery stores.
We salute the Scouts of Troop 67 for this annual effort to help our food bank survive. This is the 40th year of their food drive and we appreciate them more than ever. They continue to amaze with their efforts and enthusiasm.
Flint Street needs your help more than ever this year.
