Responding to Ballinger

To the Editor: In response to Bobby Ballinger’s recent statement that he is “proud to be the candidate who’s not endorsed by liberal Eureka Springs Democrats,” we believe clarification and context are important.

It is unclear whom he is referencing, as no formally recognized group by that description exists. More concerning is the suggestion that he has not sought meaningful engagement with local residents to identify areas of shared concern or potential agreement.

Democrats in Carroll County live throughout the county — not only in Eureka Springs — and they represent a significant portion of the district’s voters and taxpayers. As a candidate for state senator, Mr. Ballinger seeks to represent all constituents.

By singling out “Eureka Springs Democrats,” the statement risks amplifying an already unspoken divide between the eastern and western parts of Carroll County. Effective leadership should aim to bridge divides, not reinforce them.

Public service is most effective when grounded in outreach, respect and a willingness to listen. We remain committed to constructive dialogue and to working toward solutions that benefit all residents of Carroll County. Respectfully,

— Democratic Party of Carroll County Executive Committee
